Introducing Sustainable Engineering, Circular Systems and Low-Carbon Technology: A New Journal for Systemic Transformation

01/07/2026

We are proud to announce the creation of Sustainable Engineering, Circular Systems and Low-Carbon Technology (SECSLCT), a scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research and innovation that supports the transition toward circular economies and low-carbon industrial systems. In an era defined by climate urgency and resource constraints, our journal aims to be a catalyst for engineering solutions that decouple economic activity from environmental degradation.

Journal Mission and Thematic Priorities:
SECSLCT provides a forum for interdisciplinary research that integrates engineering principles with systems thinking, life-cycle perspective, and sustainability science. We seek to publish work that not only describes technological innovations but also analyzes their systemic implications, scalability, and integration within broader socio-technical-ecological systems. A special emphasis is placed on practical strategies for decarbonization, resource efficiency, and waste valorization across sectors.

Scope of Publication Includes:

  • Engineering design for circularity and low-carbon infrastructure

  • Modeling and optimization of material and energy flows in industrial symbiosis

  • Technologies for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS)

  • Waste-to-resource processes, biorefining, and material recovery systems

  • Green chemistry and sustainable material development

  • Policy instruments, business models, and governance for circular transitions

  • Sustainability assessment methodologies, including LCA and circularity metrics

  • Social and behavioral dimensions of technology adoption for sustainability

Call for Founding Editorial Board Members:
To guide the journal's strategic development and uphold its academic standards, we are recruiting founding members for our International Editorial Board. We are particularly interested in scholars and practitioners who combine technical expertise with a deep understanding of sustainability transitions, circular economy frameworks, or climate policy. This is an opportunity to help shape a new journal at the forefront of a critical global discourse. Interested candidates should submit a brief statement of interest and their CV to editor_secslct@chuncheng-pub.com.

Invitation for Submissions:
We welcome manuscript submissions for our inaugural issues. Authors are encouraged to submit original research, review articles, case studies, and perspective pieces that align with our mission. Detailed submission guidelines are available on our website.
