Call for Editorial Board Members: Join Smart Devices

01/23/2026

Smart Devices (SD) is an international, open-access journal at the forefront of advancing intelligent device technologies—where cutting-edge science meets real-world impact. We bridge physics, materials science, electronics, computer science, and applied engineering to create a global hub for interdisciplinary innovation. Our mission is simple yet powerful: Link device intelligence to responsible innovation—we don’t just publish research on smart devices; we champion designs that are high-performance, energy-efficient, resource-conscious, and socially beneficial.

As SD enters a phase of rapid growth, we are seeking visionary scholars worldwide to join our Editorial Board. This is your chance to lead the conversation, elevate your academic influence, and drive the development of technologies that shape our future.

Editorial Board Responsibilities

We value your time—our responsibilities are focused, impactful, and flexible:

  1. Provide strategic input on the journal’s academic direction and scope expansion.
  2. Conduct 8–12 peer reviews annually (timeline flexible, with editorial support to streamline the process).
  3. Co-organize 1 special issue or thematic section per 2 years (we provide full administrative support).
  4. Promote SD within your network (e.g., share calls for papers, mention the journal in conferences)—simple, low-effort ways to drive visibility.

Who We’re Looking For

We seek scholars who share our passion for intelligent, sustainable technology and meet these criteria:

  1. Hold a PhD in a relevant field (physics, materials science, electronics, computer science, applied engineering, etc.).
  2. Have the rank of Associate Professor or above (or equivalent academic/practical experience, e.g., senior R&D leaders in industry).
  3. Demonstrated international impact: High-impact publications in smart devices, sustainability, or related fields; prior peer review or editorial experience is a plus (but not mandatory for exceptional candidates).
  4. Commitment to SD’s mission: Willing to dedicate ~5–8 hours/month to editorial work and support the journal’s growth.
